Garnet Red REJA STERLING Comet Flower Rhinestone Pin

$155.59

This beautiful pin measures 2 5/8” x 2”; the pin is straight, the clasp works properly, all stones are present, and it is signed REJA Sterling.  There is some wear in the gold wash, but at this point looks like an accent to the edges of the streamers, more than wear.  Overall, it is in very good vintage condition.

This piece has some heft to it and will make a great, classy, statement on a jacket, blazer or coat lapel without being over-the-top glitzy.

There is all kinds of depth to this REJA Sterling Silver creation!  Each petal or streamer ray is cupped and the big square center stone is prong set for security.  Furthermore, there are tiny clear rhinestone accents at the tips of the streamers where they are curved.

REJA Jewelry Company History:

1932 Founder Solomon Finkelstein, New York City.  Originally geared for wholesale distribution, the manufacturer struggled to market their business appropriately.   Also, pieces were often no market as it would allow someone else to market under their brand name choice.

1939-1941 retail trade - the high quality jewelry line made by hand, in small batches out of pot metal & Sterling.  Since distribution was not a “big”, making REJA (and especially DEJA) relatively rare in the current collectors market.

1941 Marketing under the name, DEJA Costume Jewelry, Inc. – hence a lot of enamels over potmetal.

Released a number of collections:  Africana, gardenesque, enamel fruits, nuts, vegetables

Trademark conflict by the Du Jay, Inc. brought legal action and as a result, Finkelstein (owner and designer) changed the name from DEJA to REJA – a change on only one letter.

1953 - Bankruptcy
