Ocean Floor Tide Pool Paper Weight Art Glass Cuff

Looking down into this squashed art glass paper weight (it isn’t the taller globe shape) is like looking through a window into a tide pool at the ocean. Sliced canes of art glass arranged and encased in clear glass look like barnacles, anemone, and sea cucumbers!
Then I added ceramic tube beads, sea shells, a cateye marble, vintage rhinestone earrings, links from a Mother of Pearl and gold tone plated necklace from the 1950s, a couple faux tortoise shell plastic & rhinestone buttons serve at the base of the cuff to stabilize it and keep from catching on clothing or banging on a keyboard when you are working at a desk.

This wonderful art glass cuff is constructed on a 2 ½” brass cuff, and rises 2” making the overall dimensions, 3 ½” x 3 ½” x 2 ½”. While the glass makes it rather heavy, the squashed stature of it makes this piece well balanced and easier to wear than taller art pieces. Although it looks fascinating sitting on a counter or coffee table.
A word about my quality control… nearly everything I create has been dropped a number of times by the time it is finished! Sometimes, it bounces on carpet from a height, sometimes several feet to a ceramic tile floor! As you might imagine, that really tests the integrity of my construction. If something breaks, I fix it, but you can be confident that it will stand up to gentle wearing.
You can wear them to a garden party, but not gardening – you can wear them to a baseball game, but not to play baseball. You get the picture! And, of course, they always look lovely just on display at home.
